COVID-19 Service Update – April 2020

As the situation regarding COVID-19 has developed over the past few weeks, at SafeCircle we’ve been closely monitoring the changes and assessing how they impact us as a business.

First and foremost, we are at our core a responsible business, with the safety of our member families and sitters at the absolute heart of what we do. Every decision that we make has your safety in mind. It’s in our name, and is ingrained across our business, from our recruitment strategy and our booking system to the service our sitters deliver. It’s what we do.

We also want to try to provide as much clarity as possible in what is otherwise an uncertain time. We hope that by providing transparency on how we plan to operate we can help our member families and sitters to plan also.

Therefore, having reviewed government guidelines closely and considered various avenues, and in light of the recent extension of the lockdown period in the UK, we have decided that for the safety of our families and sitters, our official stance is that we will not be accepting bookings until circumstances change

This is a decision that we have not taken lightly but one which we feel on balance is right for our entire community. Part of our decision is one of responsibility to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by not encouraging movement of people. Whilst we have considered remaining operational for key workers, the demand from this sector as a whole is overwhelmingly for daytime care. As primarily an evening babysitting service, the majority of our sitters are already in employment during the daytime as nursery nurses, childminders etc and are unavailable to fulfil bookings during these hours.

Please note that whilst our core evening babysitting service won’t be operating for the short-term in accordance with the current restrictions, we are happy to help point you in the right direction wherever possible for any other childcare queries you may have. Please feel free to email us on hello@safecircle.com.

Planning for the new normal

It’s a weird time that we live in, but it is only temporary. Before we know it we will all be back out and enjoying the activities that we treasure so much right now, and when that time comes SafeCircle will be here to help you escape for that precious “me” time that you deserve.

We know that we will come out of this situation even stronger than we went in. We’ll be spending time over the next few weeks making various improvements to our service that ensure we do just that. Additionally, our website will remain open for families to signup and browse and see local sitters, and for sitters to make new applications to join us in one of our operating regions.

Join us for a quiz!

Ultimately, at SafeCircle we are all about helping parents escape. Whilst it’s not possible for us to do that in our normal way (with our exceptional team of babysitters), we are putting together a series of virtual activities for the next few weeks that aim to allow parents to take a small step back, even for a short time, starting with our Virtual Kid’s Quiz on Wednesday 22nd April on Facebook Live. You can view more details about the event here. Keep an eye out for other activities that are planned for the future.

Thank you

Finally, we would like to say thank you for your support during this challenging time. No one saw this coming and we’ve all had to adjust in ways we never thought we would have to. However, things will return to some sort of normal. Bars, restaurants, cinemas and gyms will all open again. And when that time comes, we’ll be here ready to take exceptional care of your children whilst you take well deserved time away.

From our families to yours… wishing you all the best,

Adam, Keeley & Faith
